Hi, thanks for visiting my site. I'm a business journalist specializing in issues related to small businesses and entrepreneurs. My most recent freelance work has been online for CNNMoney, MainStreet, The New York Times and Science magazine. Prior to that, I was a business columnist and blogger for washingtonpost.com. A job I've really enjoyed - as a self-employed freelancer I truly appreciate the effort that goes into entrepreneurship.

Prior to my work for The Washington Post, I worked as an editor at National Journal for eight years where I focused on policy, legislation, court cases, lobbying and the like that's of interest to the high-tech community. I worked with an amazing team of reporters, who really dug into the details and behind-the-scenes talks about the issues.

You can take a look at my resume to get a broader look at my credentials, but I've been greatly influenced by an earlier job as a media editor and reporter. I joined a telecommunications trade publication in the early '90s and was assigned to cover the business and policy of the Internet. I watched it grow from my job in Washington , D.C. , and many trips to California and New York where people often mused if the Internet would be around tomorrow.

Then there's those other jobs that don't make it on my resume that influenced me in some way or another - a waitress at a local Mexican restaurant, a cashier at a high-end grocery store where I also made baked goods, a television production assistant for a series on psychology, writing press releases for a center that helped kids through art therapy and a summer spent as a receptionist at a large construction site.
